Ethical Living

Red light blues…

Mention pornography at a dinner table and the results vary greatly, depending on your guests. Titters, gasps of outrage, stern feminist words and discussions on women’s liberation all generally follow. But what are the real issues when it comes to the ethics of pornography? Is it an industry that society should embrace or suppress?

As alien as pornography is to some is as common as bread is to many of us. Bread truly is a South African staple and is produced in vast quantities on a daily basis. But what is going into our bread and is there bread we should be avoiding? As to be expected, palm oil raises its ugly head, as do South Africa’s usual food production behemoths.

We also take a look into the state of Johannesburg’s water as environmental expert Mariette Liefferink highlights the toxic grenade that Jo’burgers are sitting on, thanks to acid mine drainage. This is a story for all South Africans that will hopefully result in action!

We hope you find the May issue of Ethical Living informative and enjoyable!

Ethical Living is dedicated to the promotion of universal human rights, environmental sustainability and animal welfare.
